Kuyanacuy Group

It is an association of 40 artisan women, living in Pamplona Alta, a very poor neighborhood in Lima. Kuyanacuy is a quechuan word meaning, "let us love each other". All the members migrated in the 1980s from the affected areas of the Shining path's violence, especially from the rural areas of Ayacucho.

The making-up of Patchwork Art (arpilleras) is the only source of income for these families. Apart from providing them with their only income, selling these arpilleras also provides them with self confidence which is very important for these poor families.
