He was born in the district of Vinchos, in the region of Ayacucho in 1952. He is the best known artisan in Huamanga stone carving.
He is the winner of the national award, "Grand Master of Peruvian Arts and Crafts 2000". Thanks to his masterpieces, he has made this art world famous.
Master Galvez is convinced that the Huamanga stones talk to him, "the stone tells me which way I should go and in which space the figure should appear." It is his way of saying that each masterpiece that leave his hands is unreproducible.
