The zampoña is the preferred musical instrument in the Andes. Introduced by the Incas centuries ago, it is also known as the Siku. They are made by hand with 13 bamboo reeds of the same diameter but different length. The pipes are tied together with a colorful ribbon. From its pipes flow out cheerful melodies such as a huayno or sad as a yaravi. This instrument is not a toy, it is professionally tuned, ready to be played.
